Letter to Potential Students
Dear Applicant;
The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing has established a minimum rate of 80% for graduates of nursing programs to pass the National Licensure Exam (NCLEX) testing for the first time. Our school has a long history of strong pass rates. However, for the 2022 year (testers between 10/1/2021 and 9/30/2022), our pass rate was only 65.38%. We have been placed on provisional status with the PA Board of Nursing.
This change in status does not affect our ability to enroll new students or for our graduates to take the NCLEX. It means that our Program is required to submit a plan of improvement to the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing. The faculty has reviewed our curriculum and approach to prepare students for the NCLEX. Changes have been continuing since last summer and our recent October 2022 ACEN site visit.
We have plans in place and resources available for every accepted student to be given the tools to be successful in acquiring a license. One piece of evidence to support this belief is that our most recent graduating class in September 2022 has an 83.3% pass rate to date (10 of 12 graduates passed on their first attempt, 2 of 2 passed on second attempt). We feel confident that these measures will be effective in raising our pass rates to an acceptable level.
