I'm Norma O’Brien and I'm the Principal of the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology. I am originally from Saegertown, PA where I graduated from Saegertown Junior/Senior High School.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University in Criminal Justice Administration and minor’s in Social Welfare and Sociology. After graduation, I worked in a residential facility counseling delinquent and dependent youth while also attending Marywood University to complete my master's degree in Counselor Education. Most recently I earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Principal K-12 from Shippensburg University.
I have been a school counselor for the last sixteen years. The last six years were at Mifflin County Middle School. Before my work at Mifflin County, I was a School Counselor at Brookville Junior/Senior High School and at East Juniata High School.
I've worn a lot of different hats over the years, but the hat that I'm most proud and passionate to wear is my mother & family cap. Every decision I make comes through the lens of being family oriented. I want all students to feel valued and supported as they prepare for what lays ahead, wherever that path leads them. I want every person at Academy to know that you are part of the family.
I am usually in my office from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Please feel free to contact me via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone 717-248-3933 ext. 5602 and I will respond as soon as I can.
