What is the role of the Career Coach? As a Career Coach, I am here to offer you support in the areas of academics, career exploration, personal-social development, and your individual learning needs. I am here to facilitate learning opportunities in a safe, diverse environment and provide the knowledge and skills to help all students achieve success. I am here to ensure that all students have equal access to academic programs and the needed support for arising challenges.

  • Academic Services – I will work closely with you to ensure you are receiving a quality, challenging education in a learning style that works best for you. In collaboration with your teachers, I will consult on your academic needs to ensure you have equal access to academic curriculum and assist in implementing strategies and activities to support and maximize each student’s ability to learn.
  • Career Services – I will help you understand the connection between school and the world of work and assist you in making a successful transition from school to your next postsecondary step. I will provide you with post-secondary training information, current hiring trends, and demographics for the areas you are interested in. I can provide you with the tools to make an informed career decision based on your likes, interests, and skills levels.

I can help you identify any self-defeating thoughts that may be negatively influencing you and work towards self-advocacy and changed behavior. We can work together to foster the development of high aspirations for every student by addressing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, problem solving, and conflict resolution. I want to empower you to speak freely on your wants and needs for a positive educational experience.
