Non-Discrimination Policy

The Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology is an equal opportunity education institution and does not discriminate in its education programs, activities, and employment practices as consistent with Title VI and Title IX and Section 504.  The Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other basis prohibited by law in its programs and activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.

Title IX Gender Discrimination

Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 to the 1964 Civil Rights Act states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” Title IX prohibits gender discrimination in all programs and activities of the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology.  Although two of the most common applications of the law are to athletics and sexual harassment, Title IX also applies to admissions, financial aid, academic matters, career services, counseling and all other programs, events and activities available to students.
